The Sound of Victory: Politics of Performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show
A webinar featuring Dr. Courtney Cox (University of Oregon) and Dr. Perry Johnson (University of Southern California).
Dr. Cox and Dr. Johnson are directors of The Sound of Victory, is an interdisciplinary, multi-platform project dedicated to investigating the deeply-intertwined relationship between music, sound and sport. For this presentation, they will share their work around the historical and political significance of Super Bowl halftime performances. Dr. Cox and Dr. Johnson’s presentations will be followed by audience questions and further conversation about the cultural politics of Super Bowl halftime shows.
The event will be moderated by Dr. Matt Ventresca (Georgia Tech) with opening remarks from Dr. Mary McDonald (Georgia Tech).
